Lana's Journey
When I say I have been there, and know how you feel I really have.
My journey has been I long one but I have grown as a person and have learned a lot of valuable lessons along the way.
So I guess I should start at the beginning.
Growing up I was always the cubby kid, but it wasn't until high school that the bulling started.
The names I was called and the other nasty things that were done to me I would not wish upon anyone.
As I got older I naturally lost a little bit of my baby weight and started to, for the first time feel pretty - yet the bulling continued.
Obsessed with the idea from years of bulling that being skinny would solve all my problems at the age of 17 I developed anorexia/bulimia. This became my life for the next 3 years, dropping to my lowest weight of only 47kg thinking that no one knew my secret. During this time I also became heavily dependent on alcohol to numb all the pain I as feeling inside.
By the time I turned 21 I had just about overcome my eating disorders and was back at a more acceptable weight although I was still drinking to much to often.
It was at this point I entered into what I now know was an extremely toxic and abusive relationship which Continued for the next 7 years in which I turned to food again for comfort but this time on the opposite side of the scale and would eat, and drink to make myself feel better - at my heaviest I weighed in at 88kg.
One day I woke up to myself and looked into the mirror and decided to take my life back once and for all and the first step was finding my passion for fitness through CrossFit.
I remember what it was like to be new to fitness, I couldn't do a burpee, I couldn't run more then 50 meters, I couldn't do a pull up - everything was a struggle!
Through consistency and motivation from all the people around me I started making progression and the weight was slowly dropping off.
Fast forward 3 years and and I was at the peak of my CrossFit journey - competing in comps and placing 231st in Australia and NZ in the last opens I did.
My passion for fitness made my hunger for knowledge grow so I completed my cert 3 in fitness, cert 1 CrossFit coach and my Olympic lifting coach certification.
Fitness saved me from a dark path and gave me the confidence, strength and motivation to eliminate toxic relationships, people and behaviours out of my life.
Today I am at my happiest and healthiest and together with my husband Simon we are sharing our passion for health, fitness, fun and community through our business Rapture Fitness.
