Meal prep
Have you ever finished a great workout and got home, realised you don’t have any food in the house, gotten back into the car driven to the shops and then 30 minutes post workout you’re so hungry so end up buying the whole supermarket? And it’s never the healthiest option is it? It’s always something quick, easy and usually unhealthy.
It is essential to consume protein and carbs within 30-45 minutes post workout to stimulate muscle protein synthesis and improve recovery.
What is meal prep and why is it Important?
Meal prep is getting home from a great workout and fueling your body accordingly-avoiding what I was talking about before!!
If you set aside 2-3 hours a week, not only will you save money but you will be more inclined to stick to your food plan! Spending the time to correctly portion your breakfast, lunches, dinners and snacks make your daily grind that little bit easier.
For me - I spend a few hours on Sunday doing the weekly shop, cooking and writing up my goals & training schedule for the week ahead.
